Halloween Food costumes for a dog?Why not.They are part of the family too aren’t they?This idea brings up a couple of thoughts.

On the plus side,dogs that are friendly and a bit on the hammy side will love all the attention that they get when people ooh and aah over them.What is cuter than a candy corn witch dog or a taco pug?

It certainly is an ice breaker with stangers.Just think how cute your Dachshound will look in that hotdog costume.Your kids will love it especially if they get more “treats”.

Having your dog along on a Halloween trick or treating excursion can also be a good thing as far as safety.Most dogs will bark if they sense danger of some sort.

Also by having the family dog with,kids are more likely to be responsible crossing the street or going anywhere that may endanger the dog.

On the down side,if your dog is not exactly the friendly type or is prone to chasing cats,you may have a problem.Nothing can spoil a Halloween faster than an out of control dog.

Your dog may not think that getting dressed up is all that much fun and may try to get rid of his costume and go au natural.A costume that is too confining or cumbersome may make for a very unhappy pup.

If you live in a warmer climate, you need to put some extra thought into whether or not your dog may over heat.Be sure to bring plenty of water and bowl for him to drink out of.

Speaking of water,at some point Fido is going to have to relieve himself.Make sure that the costume you choose will allow him or her to go potty,otherwise that cute costume you bought will get pretty dirty.

The choices of dog costumes have probably never been greater than now.Everything from food related costumes to super heroes,movie characters,tv stars and more in a wide variety of sizes.
